Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its biggest urban, cultural and financial center. ,
Baščaršija is Sarajevo’s old bazaar. Baščaršija was built in 15th century when Isa-Beg founded the whole city. The word “Baščaršija” comes from the Turkish word “baš” which means “main”, so “Baščaršija” is Turkish for “main bazaar”. Due to a large fire in 19th century, Baščaršija is today half the size it used to be. There are several historical objects in Baščaršija, like Gazi Husrev-bey’s Mosque and the Clock Tower. Nowadays, Baščaršija is the main tourist attraction of Sarajevo.
