Belgrade, the capital of Serbia and ex Yugoslavia, is located on confluence of the Sava and the Danube and is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The oldest archaeological finds from this area date back to the 5th millennium BC. During its long and turbulent history, Belgrade has been conquered by 40 armies and raised from the ashes 38 times. In Belgrade are the most important works of architecture, Kalemegdan and the Belgrade Fortress, cultural monuments and other immovable cultural goods, numerous archaeological sites with remains that testify to civilization development and culture in Belgrade from prehistory to the present day. During those 5 days, you will meet this amassing city, Novi Sad and the most photographed landscape in Serbia, very famous Uvac with its meanders. DAY 1 – BELGRADE ARRIVAL
Meet and assist at Belgrade Airport. Panoramic tour of Belgrade and Dedinje district, Karadjordje’s park and St. Sava’s Cathedral, the biggest Orthodox Church on Balkans. Visit of Nikola Tesla museum, which keeps over 1200 historical and technical exhibits and over 1500 photos and glass photo plates. Immerse yourself in the world of this genius and explore his life from the first encounter with science. Visitors can also see a short documentary about the life of Nikola Tesla. Transfer to the hotel and check in. Free time for individual activities. Overnight.
DAY 2 – ZEMUN TOUR & KALEMEGDAN FORTRESS – “TWO VIEWPOINTS” - FULL DAY TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Zemun: Magistar’s Square, Gospodska Street and Masarik’s Square, down to the river, and numerous restaurants on the coast: Karamata’s house, Nikolajev Church; the oldest house in Zemun, visit most prominent view point in Belgrade, over-viewing almost whole city, Belgrade fortress and Danube. Free time for lunch in local restaurant (optional). After lunch continue toward Kalmegdan Park and city center. We’ll pass by: residence of Princess Ljubica, Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Clock tower, church St. Petka. Walking tour through the Knez Mihailova, the most famous pedestrian street, with a large number of impressive buildings and mansions built at the end of the 1870s. Visit to Shopping Mall and free time for shopping. Back to hotel. Overnight.
DAY 3 – BELGRADE FREE DAY UVAC RIVER CANYON- FULL DAY TOUR (560 km)
Breakfast. Departure from Belgrade at 08:00. Arrival at the ranger camp at the entrance to the nature reserve of the Uvac river canyon. Upon arrival you will be welcomed with barbeque and glass of Rakia. Jeep ride to the viewpoint "Prayer", where huge vultures will fly below you, and the meanders of Uvac will appear to you in all their beauty. Return by jeep to the place of boarding.
Optional: Boat ride through the meanders of the river Uvac, with a tour of the nests of the griffon vulture. Visit of the Ice Cave, whose entrance can be reached only from the river. Return to Belgrade.
DAY 4 – SREMSKI KARLOVCI, NOVI SAD & PETROVARADIN FORTRESS - FULL DAY TOUR (220 km)
Breakfast. Tour of Sremski Karlovci: Patriarchy Residence,Karlovci’s Grammar School, Fountain ’’The Four Lions’’. Visiting Wine Cellar and wine testing. Departure for Novi Sad. Novi Sad is located on the banks of the Danube River and Danube-Tisa-Danube Canal. Free time for lunch. Continue toward Petrovaradin Fortress. It was built between 1692 and 1790 and covers the area of 112 hectares and has 16 km of underground corridors on four levels (some of the corridors are supposed to lead under the river Danube). Optional: Guided Tour through the tunnels. .Departure to Belgrade. Free time.
DAY 5 – BELGRADE DEPARTURE
Breakfast. Check out. Free time. Transfer to the airport. End of service.
