Kuršumlija
-Kuršumlija includes the area of the ancient and libertarian Gornja Toplica and Kosanica, which hides pages and traces of the past that are still systematically insufficiently explored. On the site of today's Kuršumlija, there was a settlement from the earliest times called Ad Fines. Traces of ancient civilizations were found from the time of the Romans: two milestones, dating from the time of Emperor Marcus Aurelius and coins of Emperor Philip. A Roman necropolis was discovered near Saint Nicholas. Lead, iron, zinc, silver and gold ore was mined in the vicinity of Kuršumlija. The famous Roman Road, later the Dubrovnik Road, led here, along which rich merchant caravans carried goods from Dubrovnik to Constantinople. Along the road, buildings, castles, were erected, which protected caravans from road robbers and at the same time served as accommodation and horse exchange. Around the hot springs of the Kursumli spas, the ancient Romans built tubs in which serving soldiers, legionnaires and church dignitaries were treated for bone pain. This is evidenced by the traces found in Kuršumlijska Banja, where a tall legionnaire thanks the nymphs for healing. The surroundings of Kuršumlija gained great importance in the 12th century during the Nemanja era. White Churches are mentioned as the monastery square. Here, Sava Nemanjić founded the Belocrkvanska, later Toplicka bishopric, with its seat in the monastery of St. Nicholas, where he ordained the first bishop.
