Prijepolje with its wider surroundings (Prijepoljski region) includes central Polimlje. It is a predominantly mountainous region, as evidenced by the average altitude of about 1,200 m. The lowest point of the area is the confluence of Mileševka and Lim with its 440 m, while the high mountains that rise above Lim reach a height of 1,734 m, as high as the peak of Katunić on Jadovnik. The old core of Prijepolje developed on the alluvial plains and river terraces of the right bank of the Lim at the place where the Mileševka flows into it. Today, Prijepolje has developed around Lim, whose valley crosses it in a southeast-northwest direction, and its tributaries Mileševka and Seljašnica. Each of these rivers attracts guests to Prijepolje, each of them with its charms: Lim with its rapids; Mileševka with its picturesque canyon; Seljašnica with its famous trout; Lim in the Prijepolska region has several tributaries, many of which have a predominantly torrential character. In the immediate vicinity of Prijepolje, on the slopes of Jadovnik, are the Sopotnica waterfalls, which arouse the attention and enthusiasm of an increasing number of visitors who are attracted by this natural beauty, recently protected as a natural monument.
