Small villages with old houses surrounded by fields heavy with grain, ancient forests and wetlands around oxbows - that is the picture of the lowland part of Srem region, an area unjustly overseen by tourists.Activities:

Starting from Belgrade we first head for Pećinci where we will visit the one of its kind Museum of Bread and learn everything there is to know about the food that kept the stomachs of our forefathers full for centuries.
A short drive away is the village of Ogar where we find the so-called Aksentijev Kućerak, an old mud, straw and wood house from late 18th century, the oldest village house in this region. Nowadays a museum, it gives you an insight of how a well-off family lived in Srem two and a half centuries ago. Two villages further, passing the nature reserve of Obedska Bara swamp, we reach Kupinovo to see another pearl of rural architecture, the Putnik family homestead with its precious wood carvings and many other nice details. Here we will also see (and try) the local products.
From Kupinovo it’s a slightly longer drive to one of the best kept nature reserves in Serbia – Zasavica wetland. When river Sava changed its course it left behind it a 33 kilometers long oxbow lake surrounded by groves and inhabited by a myriad of birds and a population of beavers. At the visitors’ center they also grow old sorts of pigs and cows as well as many other domestic species whose milk, lard and meat you can try in their restaurant (which we strongly encourage given their superb taste!).
At the end of the day we drive to the nearby town of Sremska Mitrovica. In Roman days this was the great city of Sirmium that in one moment became one of the four capitals of the reformed Imperium Romanum. From the Roman ruins that lie underneath the whole of the town center we will visit the remains of the Imperial Palace.
